After completing her training at the Melbourne Institute of Massage Therapy in Australia, Mary moved back to the UK where she has worked in York and Devon in private practiced and clinics. She focuses most of her clinic based work on orthopedic massage and remedial therapy to help clients with muscular-skeletal pain and injury.
Mary has a teaching background, having taught in Primary schools for 10 years and reaching a status as an Advanced Skills Teacher. She started working for the City of York Council’s Health and Well-being programme for Adult Community Education in 2007 where she has taught year long practitioner level courses in Therapeutic Body Massage. Mary has also taught accredited courses in Indian Head Massage.
Mary teaches introductory courses in Body Massage and Indian Head Massage and Make and Massage and Aromatherapy. She also teaches the Body Massage Diploma and Diploma in Aromatherapy. Mary trains practitioners in multiple CPD courses in Indian Head Massage, Corporate Seated Massage, Advanced Balinese Massage and Spa salt Scrubs, Advanced Balinese Spa Facial courses and Bamboo Massage and Hot Stone Massage and Thai foot sticks and Thai herbal Hot Compresses.
Mary achieved a Balinese massage diploma in the UK and then traveled to Bali in 2019 to study at the Balinese International Spa Academy to do an Advanced diploma to learn authentic Balinese techniques. She is passionate about promoting health and well-being and is studying a diploma in Culinary Medicine.
Mary is a full member of the LCSP and CNCH and BLS. She is an Assessor with VTCT.
Jill McArthur is a reflexology and massage practitioner with over twelve years experience of working in G.P practices and complementary health clinics. www.unionholistic.co.uk
After completing her basic training in London in 1998 Jill moved to York where she has lived and worked ever since. Her post graduate studies include maternity reflexology and counseling skills.
In 2000 she began to teach reflexology as part of the City of York Council’s Health and Well- being programme as part of the Adult Community Education. She has taught practitioner level courses and has helped many students reach their goal of becoming a professionally qualified practitioner and setting up their own reflexology practices.
Jill also practices as a professionally qualified therapist with over 12 years experience of working in G.P. practices and complementary health clinics. She is a member of the Association of Reflexologists and the Federation of Holistic Therapists ensuring a high standard of clinical practice, client care and confidentiality. She has completed postgraduate study in cancer care, counselling skills and maternity reflexology.
